Abstract

<p>This review examined the effect of heads of school instructional leadership on teacher performance in senior high school in Ghana. Instructional leadership plays key roles in influencing teacher performance in senior high schools in Ghana. Every effective leader has a vibrant role in influencing teacher practices, promoting continuous professional development, and improving performance. Again, the paper examines the relationship between instructional leadership and teacher performance, paying key attention to the strategies for improving teacher performance. Evidence from existing literature shows that there is significant relationship between instructional leadership practice and teacher performance. There is the need for improved strategies to provide teachers with evocative intuitions for professional growth. It is recommended that policymakers, school administrators, and educators must prioritize continuous professional development programs based on the teachers’ needs. Furthermore, an instructional leader must conduct periodic supervision and monitoring to ultimately improve quality education.</p>
