Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026 MDOI Foundation

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for or using the MDOI Registry platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

MDOI Foundation provides a persistent digital identifier registry that allows individuals and organisations to register, manage, and resolve digital object identifiers (DOIs) for research outputs, institutional assets, and digital content. The Service includes the MDOI Registry dashboard, the identifier resolution infrastructure, and related APIs and tools.

3. Account Registration

To access the Service, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify MDOI Foundation immediately of any unauthorised use of your account. MDOI Foundation reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscription and Payment

Access to the Service requires a paid subscription. Subscription fees are charged monthly. Individuals are billed at the applicable individual rate and organisations at the applicable organisation rate, both converted to Ghana Cedis (GHS) at the prevailing Bank of Ghana interbank exchange rate at time of payment. All payments are processed securely via Paystack. Fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.

5. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, and intellectual property on the Service belong to MDOI Foundation or its licensors. You retain ownership of the metadata and content you register via the Service. By registering content, you grant MDOI Foundation a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display and resolve your registered identifiers as part of operating the Service.

6. Prohibited Use

You may not use the Service to: (a) register false, misleading, or fraudulent identifiers; (b) violate any applicable law or regulation; (c) infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; (d) transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content; or (e) attempt to disrupt or compromise the security or integrity of the Service.

7. Termination

MDOI Foundation may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to other users, third parties, or the Service. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Registered identifiers that have been published may remain resolvable at MDOI Foundation's discretion in order to preserve the integrity of the identifier ecosystem.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. MDOI Foundation does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MDOI Foundation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service, even if MDOI Foundation has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Changes to Terms

MDOI Foundation reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or through the dashboard. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana.
