Abstract

The integration of technology in education has become a cornerstone of modern teaching and learning. This has produced opportunities for greater engagement, personalized instruction, and improved academic outcomes. But its effectiveness differs widely due to factors such as infrastructure, teacher readiness, and equitable access. This review examines the present landscape of technology integration in schools, assessing its impact on teaching and learning, the challenges impeding successful implementation, and future directions for innovation. The key findings indicate that, while technology can significantly boost student motivation and achievement, its success rest on pedagogical alignment, professional development, and institutional support. Barriers such as inadequate teacher training, insufficient infrastructure, and digital inequities often limit its potential, particularly in low-resource settings. Emergent innovations such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and adaptive learning present promising opportunities but require strategic, ethical, and inclusive approaches to ensure meaningful adoption. To maximize the benefits of educational technology, this review recommends sustained investment in teacher training, equitable access to digital resources, robust evaluation frameworks, and policies that prioritize long-term sustainability. By addressing these factors, schools can harness technology to create more engaging, inclusive, and effective learning environments for all students.
